All Classes "Costumes" and street clothes are not permitted in any of our classes, except Hip Hop and Theater Acting. This includes T-Shirts, Sweat Shirts, jogging pants, Camisole shirts, athletic uniforms or costumes from previous recitals.
The primary purpose for our dress code for this age group is to avoid anything that could distract the student from learning. A leotard (body suite) and tights (on legs) of any color or style. Skirted styles are fine as long as the skirt does not fall past mid-thigh. Anything longer would hamper the teacher’s ability to see and help with placement corrections. Hair should be in a bun or braid, completely off of the face and neck. Hair accessories should be secured so they don’t fall out. This class will need a pair of Ballet Slippers and Tap shoes (color is not important). Tap shoes must be either the slip on buckle type that we carry or the tie-type with the ribbons removed and elastic sewn through the eyelets to allow the child to slip them on and off easily. Please be sure your child’s name or initials are clearly marked on every shoe. Shoes do tend to get mixed up occasionally while the children are changing them. "Costumes" should not be worn to class. T-Shirts, Sweatshirts or any other type of street clothing is not permitted. Jewelry and watches should also not be worn for safety reasons. The dress code for all of our ballet classes is very simple and very precise:
Hip Hop Dress Code The dress code for Hip Hop is totally opposite that of ballet. In fact there is no dress code except, that all participants are required to wear solid black sneakers. Even the soles must be black. These shoes should be worn only in class and not used as street shoes to avoid bringing dirt and mud into the classrooms. Dress Code for Tap Classes
Dress Code for Jazz Classes
Again there is no dress code other than the students should be comfortable and whatever footwear the students chooses should be only used indoors. We need to be very careful about bringing dirt into the classrooms out of respect for the dancers' safety and cleanliness. |
