Performance Center Staff

Janet Batchelor, Director. Janet founded the Performance Center Inc. in 1983, after a successful professional career. A graduate of the nationally acclaimed dance program at Temple University, Janet received her B.F.A in Dance in 1980. She danced professionally with Sybil Modern Dance Company, and as a soloist with South Jersey Jazz Company, before focusing on teaching dance in 1983. Janet is dedicated and experienced in teaching all levels of dance from pre-school through college level courses in a variety of forms of dance. She continues her own dance education by taking classes, attending seminars, and studying instructional videos designed to keep the teaching professional current in all aspects of dance education. Professional experience backed with a strong academic course of study enables Janet to guide both students and faculty to reach their fullest potential. Her intention is to continue to provide a safe, positive environment in which students can receive a quality dance education. Janet currently teaches pre-school through advanced classes. In addition, Janet also teaches and choreographs for our award winning competition teams.

Nina Kitabjian. Nina has been with the studio for eleven years, and was also trained and continues to take classes at The Performance Center. Nina currently teaches all of our Hip-Hop classes at the studio. She has also competed with the studio a number of years. Nina’s classes are high energy and full of great choreography, which her students can’t get enough of.

Alice Furey.  Alice has a BA in Theater from Temple University and has also studied at the Walnut Street and Wilma Theaters. She is a certified Elementary Education teacher who has taught our program for the past three seasons. Alice has appeared locally in many community theater productions and has also stage managed and directed.   Alice's original one-act plays have been produced at the Colonial Theater's Short Play Festivals.   Alice also writes all the scenes performed by the students during our recital.
